Happy & Glorious – Happy Birthday, Ma’am!

21 Apr 2016

The Chairman & Trustees of The Royal Highland Fusiliers Regimental Trust and the Staff & Volunteers of The Royal Highland Fusiliers Museum send Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, Loyal Greetings and wish her a very Happy Birthday.

In case it has escaped anyone’s notice, today, 21 April 2016, marks the 90th birthday of Her Majesty, who in September 2015 became the United Kingdom’s longest reigning monarch surpassing the  23,226 days of her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria.

Her Majesty is the Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces, a position vested in the British monarch; and she, and the other members of the Royal Family, have always taken their duties very seriously, visiting her servicemen and women all over the world.  She was, of course, a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Territory Service, with the rank of Second Lieutenant and service number, 23087.

On the formation of The Royal Regiment of Scotland in 2006, Her Majesty became the Colonel-in-Cheif of the Regiment, presenting new Colours to all seven Battalions in July 2011, including to our own successor Battalion: The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The staff and volunteers at the Museum have marked this amazing milestone in their own inimitable fashion; and once again, may we wish you a Very Happy Birthday, Ma’am!
